A Complete Smile Makeover in a Single Visit

Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells custom-crafted to fit over natural teeth to improve their appearance. Unlike other cosmetic dental treatments, like dental crowns, dental veneers are minimally invasive, and can usually be applied in only one visit.

Dental veneers are an ideal solution for covering chipped, cracked, or stained teeth, and closing tooth gaps. The dentists at Guelph Family Dentistry craft our veneers to appear as natural as possible, resulting in a brand-new smile that looks healthy and protects your natural teeth.

There are several reasons why you may want to consider dental veneers over other cosmetic dental treatments, including:

  • Closing tooth gaps
  • Correcting slight tooth misalignment or crookedness
  • Correcting tooth shape
  • Covering tooth chips
  • Reducing tooth sensitivity
  • Minimizing the appearance of a “gummy” smile
  • Restoring whiteness to severely stained teeth

    The Benefits of Dental Veneers

When it comes to minor cosmetic dental issues, dental veneers offer several distinct advantages over more common cosmetic dental treatments, like orthodontics, or dental crowns.

    An Improved Smile

Dental veneers create the appearance of a brighter, whiter, and more even smile that can last up to fifteen years.

    Minimally Invasive

Unlike crowns or other cosmetic dental procedures, dental veneers involve very little modification to existing teeth. That means less time in treatment. Often, we can complete the procedure in as little as one visit.

    Less Expensive

Compared to other treatments, dental veneers remain one of the most affordable cosmetic dental treatment options. But don’t let the affordable price fool you! Veneers are made of porcelain– a highly durable and natural-looking material.

    The Dental Veneer Process

    Consultation

Before beginning your dental veneer treatment, you’ll need to come into our Guelph dental office for a brief consultation. During this consultation, Dr. Al-Azzawi will examine your dental condition to confirm that your teeth and gums are healthy. If Dr. Al-Azzawi notices any issues, he may recommend a treatment plan before the veneer procedure to ensure that your veneers have a clean and healthy foundation. If your teeth and gums are healthy, he’ll discuss your treatment options with you to determine if dental veneers are right for you.

    Preparing the Teeth

A dental veneer requires us to remove a thin layer of enamel, creating a rough surface onto which the tooth can securely adhere. Dr. Al-Azzawi begins by numbing the area around the tooth with a local anesthetic, so you won’t feel a thing. Once the area is sufficiently numb, he’ll gently remove the enamel before finishing up by taking an impression of the tooth. This impression ensures that the shape of your veneer matches the exact shape of the surrounding teeth.

    Creating and Placing the Veneer

For your comfort, we’ll place a set of temporary veneers while your permanent veneers are being created. Once the permanent veneers are ready, we’ll remove your temporary veneers and bond the permanent veneers to the teeth. Dr. Al-Azzawi will then apply a few finishing touches to make sure the veneers fit well and blend perfectly with the surrounding teeth before applying a quick polish.

    Caring for Your Veneers

The best way to care for your veneers is by treating them the same way you do your natural teeth– brushing and flossing twice and day and coming in for routine dental cleanings every six months. With proper care, your veneers can last up to 15 years.

Cost Of Dental Veneers In Guelph

The out-of-pocket cost for a dental veneer can vary widely from patient to patient. Insurance coverage varies by company and benefit plan. Without insurance, a veneer cost between $1,100 and $1,800+.

When determining the cost of dental veneers, we consider the following:

    Frequently Asked Questions

Porcelain veneers are usually referred to as “traditional” veneers. They are extremely durable and are virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth to the naked eye. Because they are made up of porcelain, they are stain-resistant.
It’s ultimately up to you to decide how many veneers you need. You may wish to get veneers just on the teeth which are most visible when you smile.
Veneers are permanently bonded to your tooth and need the same care as your natural teeth. With regular brushing, flossing and check-ups, your veneers can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years.
Care for your veneers the same way you would care for your natural teeth. Brush at least twice daily with a nonabrasive toothpaste, floss at least once per day and rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash once or twice per day. Avoid sugary or acidic drinks and foods after brushing and especially before bed. And don’t forget to book your routine cleaning and checkup every 6 months!
